Villa del Balbianello needs very little introduction — the terraced gardens, the lake views, the sheer cinematic drama of the setting. It's one of my favourite places to shoot precisely because it doesn't need much help: the light off the water, the layered greenery, the sweep of the Alps in the background all do a lot of the work. My job is to capture the quieter human moments against all of that.

For couples planning a destination wedding at Villa del Balbianello, I travel with you — full coverage, accommodation included, and I always build in time to scout the light and the best corners of the grounds the day before.

This kind of setting lends itself beautifully to an elopement-style day - just the two of you, arriving by speedboat across the lake, with Villa del Balbianello's terraces and gardens as the backdrop. There's something wonderfully cinematic about that approach by water; it sets the tone before the day has even properly begun. The light here shifts constantly through the afternoon, off the water and through the trees, which makes for portraits that feel effortless and unposed even when they're carefully composed.
